Rex Hart – Junior Consultant
Rex Hart works where evidence begins and speculation ends. As a Junior Consultant, he manages, images, and analyzes devices and data, and holds every step to forensic best practice, so that what comes out can be defended. His specialties are forensics, software development, and operating systems.
Rex first came to iDS as a Forensic Analyst Intern. Before that, he worked as a Junior Security Analyst at Northwestern Mutual and as a freelance software developer, learning how systems are built before he started examining them.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, with a minor in Data Science, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he holds the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification.
Born and raised in Long Beach, California, Rex brings the same attention to detail to photography and to the programming passion projects he builds, fun and functional tools for everyday use.
He keeps a line from Michelangelo close: “Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle.” In forensics, the trifles are the work: a timestamp, a log entry, a line in the chain of custody. They decide whether a conclusion holds up. It is the same belief behind Truth Through Data. Someone has to get the details right before anyone can give the data a voice.
