Warren Kruse
Warren Kruse
Managing Director
Digital Forensics · Cybersecurity

Digital forensics and incident response, with extended experience carrying forensic findings from examination through testimony.

Warren Kruse has spent more than thirty years in the places where truth hides: in hard drives, in network logs, and in the faint digital traces most people never see. As Managing Director at iDiscovery Solutions (iDS), he brings the instincts of a former New Jersey police officer and the precision of a seasoned forensic expert to every matter he leads.

His career has carried him through government agencies, global corporations, and cross-border investigations where the stakes were measured in billions, not budgets. He has unraveled intellectual property theft, exposed fraud, and guided organizations through the pressure of regulatory scrutiny. When the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission needed a computer forensic expert, they called Warren. He testified. And he delivered.

Warren is not only versed in the field. He has shaped it. He co-authored Computer Forensics: Incident Response Essentials, a foundational text for modern investigators. His work on the Comtraid intellectual property and trade secrets case earned HTCIA’s Case of the Year award. Later, the organization honored him with its Lifetime Achievement Award, a recognition reserved for those who elevate an entire profession.

“Don’t plead your case, prove it. Data tells a story, and our job is to uncover the truth with clarity, integrity, and objectivity.” ~ Warren Kruse

Whether he is leading a high-stakes engagement or speaking at conferences, Warren pushes investigations beyond surface-level searches. He champions advanced techniques such as concept analytics to reveal the patterns, connections, and meaning hidden inside data.

He holds a Master of Science in Digital Investigation Management and a Bachelor of Science in Digital Forensics from Champlain College. He continues to contribute to the field as an active member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, HTCIA, ISC2, and The Sedona Conference.

Every computer crime leaves tracks—you just have to know where to find them. This book shows you how to collect and analyze the digital evidence left behind in a digital crime scene.

Computers have always been susceptible to unwanted intrusions, but as the sophistication of computer technology increases so does the need to anticipate, and safeguard against, a corresponding rise in computer-related criminal activity.

Computer forensics, the newest branch of computer security, focuses on the aftermath of a computer security incident. The goal of computer forensics is to conduct a structured investigation to determine exactly what happened, who was responsible, and to perform the investigation in such a way that the results are useful in a criminal proceeding.

Written by two experts in digital investigation, Computer Forensics provides extensive information on how to handle the computer as evidence. Kruse and Heiser walk the reader through the complete forensics process—from the initial collection of evidence through the final report. Topics include an overview of the forensic relevance of encryption, the examination of digital evidence for clues, and the most effective way to present your evidence and conclusions in court. Unique forensic issues associated with both the Unix and the Windows NT/2000 operating systems are thoroughly covered.

Computer Forensics is written for everyone who is responsible for investigating digital criminal incidents or who may be interested in the techniques that such investigators use. It is equally helpful to those investigating hacked web servers, and those who are investigating the source of illegal pornography.

This book provides a detailed methodology for collecting, preserving, and effectively using evidence by addressing the three A’s of computer forensics:
  • Acquire the evidence without altering or damaging the original data.
  • Authenticate that your recorded evidence is the same as the original seized data.
  • Analyze the data without modifying the recovered data.

Mark Clews
Mark Clews
Managing Director, Digital Forensics & eDiscovery
Digital Forensics · eDiscovery & Disclosure · AI & Emerging Tech

Forensics and disclosure work where the evidentiary record spans multiple jurisdictions and collection regimes.

Twenty-five years ago, Mark Clews started pulling on a thread that most people never even see: the digital evidence hiding inside the machines, drives, and data systems that run modern business. He has not stopped pulling since.

At iDS, Mark is the expert clients rely on when the legal and technical complexity runs deep. His practice spans the full arc of digital forensics and eDiscovery, from the moment a legal hold is issued to the moment evidence is produced in court. He has led hundreds of engagements: single-machine forensic investigations, multi-jurisdictional class actions spanning hundreds of custodians, and everything in between. He has testified as an expert, been appointed as an independent forensic examiner, and built the operational infrastructure (evidence rooms, chain-of-custody protocols, standard operating procedures) that makes defensible work possible at scale.

The nature of his work has put him in front of nearly every major regulatory body in the country: the SEC, the DOJ, the FTC, FINRA, the EPA, the CFPB, and state attorneys general. He has investigated illegal cartels, securities fraud, accounting irregularities, theft of intellectual property, and whistleblower matters. In one case, his forensic work helped the SEC reach a $300 million penalty settlement. In another, his challenge of an opposing expert’s methodology led the judge to grant every one of his client’s requests.

Mark has spent his career at the intersection of legal complexity and technical precision, building and leading digital forensics practices across some of the most respected consulting firms in the country. Most recently, in 2025, he established a digital forensics service line from the ground up before bringing his expertise to iDS.

What he brings to every matter is not just technical depth. It is judgment. The ability to look at a complex data environment and know what matters, where it lives, and how to get to it in a way that holds up. That is the work. He has been doing it since 2000.

Mark holds certifications as a Magnet Certified Forensics Examiner (MCFE), EnCase Certified Examiner (EnCE), and Certified Cyber Forensic Professional (CCFP). He has been recognized in Who’s Who Legal as one of the world’s leading digital forensics experts every year from 2016 through 2024, and named a Global Thought Leader in 2023 and 2024. As a member of the Sedona Conference Working Group 6, he helps shape the evolving standards at the intersection of law and technology.

Beyond his professional work, Mark is deeply committed to giving back to his community. He serves on the board of The Priority Center, a charity dedicated to breaking the generational cycle of child abuse, and regularly volunteers at Second Harvest of Orange County, which works to ensure food and nutritional security for the community.

Damages & Forensic Accounting

Economic and valuation analysis in disputes where exposure has to be modeled rather than asserted.

Ken spent 25 years inside the world’s most complex markets before he started testifying about them. He structured commodity transactions at Shell Trading and Enron, co-led energy and commodities risk advisory at Deutsche Bank/Bankers Trust, and ran commodity structuring for the Americas at Citigroup, building and valuing the kinds of deals that later end up in front of arbitrators when they go wrong. That is not a coincidence. It is why attorneys call him.

At iDS, Ken leads the economics teams. He puts numbers on financial harm: economic damages, lost profits, valuation disputes, and the market questions underneath them, and builds the models and expert reports that carry those numbers into deposition, arbitration, and trial. His conclusions are constructed the way iDS builds everything, to be tested, because they will be.

Ken came to iDS from Vine Advisors, where he was a Partner, and KEG Capital, the advisory firm he founded. He works with law firms, corporations, financial institutions, private equity sponsors, and government entities, and alongside the full iDS bench, so the economics in a matter connect to the data, forensics, and digital evidence that prove it.

Ken is a distance runner and multisport athlete: three Boston Marathons, five New York Marathons, and a class win at the Houston D10 Decathlon. He knows something about holding a pace under pressure.

Jonah Kang
Jonah Kang
Junior Consultant, Forensics

Jonah Kang did not stumble into cybersecurity. He chased it. Competing in Capture the Flag competitions. like the National Cyber League while studying at the University of Southern California, he was drawn to the problem-solving, the precision, and the stakes. Digital forensics was the natural next step, and iDS was where he wanted to do it.

As a Junior Forensic Consultant, Jonah conducts forensic imaging, ESI preservation, data management, and the analysis of digital evidence. He has built particular depth in trade secret misappropriation cases, leading Employee Risk Assessments and working with tools including Magnet Axiom, FTK Imager, and Cellebrite UFED.

What keeps him sharp is the work itself. Jonah is genuinely interested in how forensic tools function, how they can be tested and improved, and how better tooling leads to better results for clients. That curiosity shows up in how he works.

“What I appreciate most about iDS is that we are truly a team focused on our client’s goals and success. Everyone works hard to incorporate our workflow with our client’s workflow so that we can produce the best results together.”

A Los Angeles native, Jonah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence and Cyber Operations from the University of Southern California. He brings the same competitive instinct that drove him through CTF competitions to every investigation he takes on at iDS.

Michael Sayegh
Michael Sayegh
Junior Consultant, Forensics

Jada Chapman
Jada Chapman
Junior Consultant

An internship with the Savannah Police Department was supposed to be a glimpse into criminal justice. For Jada Chapman, it opened a door she has not stopped walking through since. That experience sparked her interest in digital forensics and set her on a direct path to iDS, where she now works as a Junior Consultant focused on data collection, extraction, and evidence preservation.

“Integrity is the seed for achievement. It is the principle that never fails.”

That is not a slogan for Jada. It is how she works. In a field where the integrity of data can determine the outcome of a case, she treats every collection and every inventory with the same care. Rigorous data hygiene is not a box she checks. It is the standard she holds herself to every day.

Jada holds a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science, graduating Cum Laude. Her strengths run across adaptability, cross-functional collaboration, and evidence preservation. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

A Washington, D.C. native, Jada’s work at iDS is an extension of something she has always believed: that doing things right, with integrity, is how you create real impact for the people depending on you.

One engagement, multiple disciplines

Leadership here has done the work, not just managed it.

Not every matter needs the full bench. But when complexity escalates, a team that already works together is a meaningful advantage over assembling separate vendors mid-matter.

What is at stake

The earlier you understand the evidence, the better the decisions that follow.

The evidence is abundant. But volume is not access. Access is not understanding. And understanding is not an expert opinion.

Increasingly, evidence is buried across devices, applications, databases, cloud systems, transactions, and other complex sources. It must be found, preserved, made accessible, understood, and interpreted in the context of the matter. And when expert testimony is required, that understanding must support an independent, defensible opinion.

When important evidence surfaces late, assumptions may already have become strategy. When it is identified, tested, and understood early, your team can build its strategy around what can actually be shown. This isn’t just for trial. It is also for TROs, letters rogatory, discovery requests, subpoenas, depositions, summary judgment, mediation, and arbitration.

You bring the legal expertise. We bring the evidence expertise.

iDS combines technical, analytical, and subject-matter expertise to help you move from evidence to understanding, and, when necessary, from understanding to opinion and testimony.

You know the law. We help you know the evidence.
